“Party Like 2019” is the final release of yet another strange year and comes courtesy of the Sloth boss himself, Sacha Robotti. Made during the pandemic, it didn’t have a title until recently.
Influenced sonically by Berlin in the 2000s, the track is both dark and silly. Featuring flamenco claps that mingle with off-beat noises and human interjections, cut & pasted over a caveman-like bass line that keeps thumping along, interlaced with psychedelic breaks with reverberated risers and framed by a funky sporadic guitar lick that reminds you to come back to earth every so often.
In his own words, “This track reminded me of the chaos I was living in throughout 2019, my relentless touring schedule and the party excess, as well as the premonition I had that something life changing on a planetary level was about to happen”.
